BAPTISM

Congratulations on the birth of your child. The Parish Community shares in your joy. Thank you for requesting to have your child join the family of the Christian Community through Baptism. The Parish Baptismal team (trained team of local lay people) will work with the Priests, Parents and Parish to help you carry out your decision by giving you our wholehearted support.

Available to download or from our Sacristans in either church.

Five weeks’ notice is required when booking a baptism.

Baptisms are celebrated on Saturdays at 5pm. and Sundays at 12 noon.

On returning your baptismal request form, together with a copy of your child’s State Birth Certificate, a date and time for the baptism can then be confirmed. Parents names on the Baptismal form must be as on your child’s State Birth Certificate. Forms may be returned to the Sacristy in either Church, for the attention of the Baptismal Team. A member of the team will contact you when your requested date and time for Baptism has been confirmed with the Priest, or to offer you an alternative date if your requested date and time is not available.

You are required as part of your preparation for your child’s Baptism to attend a Preparation Meeting for Parents/Guardians which will take place by arrangement with you. Meetings are typically held the first Tuesday of each month at 7.30pm in Caherconlish Church by appointment.. Godparents and family members are welcome to attend. These meetings are conducted by the Parish Baptism Team and takes approximately one hour.

Please note this Preparation meeting is only for Parents/Guardians who have returned their completed form, and date and time of the Baptism has been confirmed by the Baptismal Team with you. Request Forms for Baptism cannot be obtained or returned at this meeting.

If you do not reside in Caherconlish/Caherline Parish and wish to have your child Baptised here, please contact your local Priest where you reside and ask for a letter of referral for this Parish.
